OCS/ECS Game of the Month for July and August 2023, is Second Samurai!

THE STORY SO FAR...

The samurai, the warriors of ancient Japan, have a long history of valiant deeds, none more honourable than their struggle with the Demon King.

The story of the First Samurai told how Lord Akira and his young warrior companion were collecting taxes from a tiny hillside village, when the Demon King descended from a mountain and destroyed the entire local population. Lord Akira himself was brutally murdered, and his young companion swore revenge.

After many years of hardship and dreadful punishments, the Wizard-Mage arrived from the sea and battled with the Demon King atop his mountain throne. Their conflict was long and terrible, but at last the Mage forced the Demon King to take refuge in time. The Demon threw himself far into the future, where magic and superstition were forgotten, and where he faced no opposition.

The young samurai begged the Mage to let him avenge his murdered Lord. The Wizard reluctantly agreed and cast him into 24th century Japan, where the warrior found a grim, desolate waste land. After defeating hordes of the Demon King's minions, the samurai found himself facing his enemy...

Yet the Demon King escaped, returning to his mountain throne in old Japan. He had been forced to flee again, but this time he was on home territory. The King was cornered, and like a rat trapped in its lair he was prepared to try anything to defeat his opponent.

All of his demonic forces have been summoned to his aid, all of his tricks and traps have been set, all of his power is directed against you. Only the wisest and the most honourable of warriors can defeat him.

* To qualify: play single player, 3 lives, normal difficulty, on an OCS/ECS machine or equivalent emulator.  Do not use keys, passwords or cheats.

Hi all,

Seems we all are too busy to play! I will extend through August.  Also thinking we do quarterly GotheQ instead of the monthly GotheM?  With quarterly, perhaps more people will have time to get involved, and it will take some pressure off me to keep this up to date!  What do we all think?  Do we like monthly or would quarterly be ok?  I might run a poll.

I love the monthly Gothem, as I usually go back and check what the cool kids are playing.

I always mean to play and record a score...

Played the OCS version on my A500 mini.  Probably not a great score, but at least I am in!

I'll take the win, but as I said earlier in the month, I feel like I am putting these competitions together for 1 or 2 people at most.  Let's get some more involvement in September!!  I promise I will start handing out the awards again!
