Hi all, it's almost June.  Guess what!?  I've got my 'arcade' room almost set up, to a point where I can actually sit down in front of my Amigas to play games!!!  I am keen to start up GOTHEM again, and plan to post a couple of new games this weekend!

September 2024 - Blake Stone: Aliens Of Gold
« on: September 01, 2024, 09:12:25 am »
AGA Game of the Month for July-August 2024, is Blake Stone: Aliens Of Gold

Wolfenstein 3D took you into the past, thrusting you into a world at war. Blake rockets you into the future where a sinister madman, using genetics to create an army of bizarre creatures, is waging war on Earth. Blake has more of everything! More action, more enemies, more levels, more firepower, more graphics, more animation, more pitfalls and more features. Like built-in auto-mapping, so you never have to worry about getting lost in the game.

Well that was a lot of fun.

It took a bit of searching to find a game that would work with the Aminet files.

I eventually found a working version of it on archive.org  https://archive.org/details/BlakeStoneAliensOfGoldUSA

Some of the other versions, for example the DOSBox version didn't work with the Aminet files.

This ran great on my PiStorm32.  Nice and fast and I completed the game levels 1-9 on the required difficulty level two - skilled agent.

I enjoyed this much more than Gloom, and I just thought I'd say as much, because while I was trying to find a working version of the game, I ran across people in forums suggesting that Gloom would be a better option.  I would have to say it's worth playing through, but you might need a fast Amiga.  I haven't tried it on a slower machine as yet.

My Score: 1925805

Played on my A1200 PiStorm32, no keys, passwords or cheats were used.
