It was very 'smart' of the random picked game from AGS this month, with the Australian Open tennis event coming up.  The GOTHEM for January is 'Advantage Tennis'!  a great old tennis game! Have fun!

What's your favourite demo and why?

One of the best for me for OSC is Alcatraz - Odyssey. I think it's aged quite well as it has a nice story and effects that aren't just to show how many pixels can be transformed on screen.

Hi All,

First post. My name is Epsilon and I run Epsilon's Amiga blog at http://amigax1000.blogspot.com.au

I have owned an Amiga since 1988 with my first one being an Amiga 500, and since then ended up with just about all of them! I also participate heavily in the NG Amiga scene, and currently I am a AmigaOS4 beta tester for the upcoming AmigaOne A1222 system.

I participated in the Amiga demoscene in the 1990's in The Experience, a group I formed with some uni friends and we produced two AGA demos in the 1997 and 1998.

Anyway, enough about me!

Wow, name 1 favourite Amiga demo? Sorry, can't do that. I am a huge demoscene fan and follow the Amiga scene from 1988 and still in 2019.

I can offer my favourite top ten AGA and OCS/ECS lists though! I separate them as the hardware features and speed are very different.

My reasons for selection are varied, but to make my list means they have amazing music, graphics and technically brilliant demo effects, all blended in well together.

For a long time AGA 060 demos were a focus, but A500 OCS/ECS demos are finally really coming back in 2019 with some really great ones released!

Top Ten AGA Demos:

1. The Black Lotus - Starstruck (2006)
2. Elude - We Come in Peace (2010)
3. Unique - Singularities (2017)
4. Haujobb - Signals (2019)
5. Lorem Ipsum - Dolor Sit Amet (2016)
6. The Black Lotus - Rift (2014)
7. Ephidrena- Neon Sky (2016)
8. The Black Lotus - Silkcut (2004)
9. Ghostown & Loonies - Human Traffic (2011)
10. Dekadence - Carbon Based (2015)

Top Ten OCS/ECS Demos:

1. Spaceballs - State of the Art (1992)
2. The Black Lotus - Eon (2019)
3. Mad Elks - Technological Death (1993)
4. Lemon, Deadliners & Oxygene - De Profundis (2019)
5. Razor 1911 - Voyage (1991)
6. Crionics and the Silents - Hardwired (1991)
7. Altair - Zener Drive (2017)
8. Kefrens - Desert Dream (1993)
9. Sanity - Arte (1993)
10. Spaceballs - Nine Fingers (1993)

There are so many more I wanted to include but a top ten is a top ten!

Catcha,
Epsilon

No worries mate.

If you are interested below is my demo group The Experience's Amiga demo called Terminal I uploaded on YouTube. Also I include the original Aminet archive link we uploaded all those years ago! Needs an AGA 030 system to run correctly. Finished 4th at Remedy 1998 demo party.
