New to GOTHEM - One game to rule them all!  No more OCS/ECS/AGA mixup - just play on any Amiga or emulator!  Have fun!  This month, Sneech!  No idea what this is but came up in a random Amiga search.  Enjoy!

PAUG meet #2
« on: January 30, 2020, 10:49:05 pm »
Room has been booked! Saturday 21st March 2020. Leederville.

PAUG meet #2 update.

I’m checking out a location on Monday!! If it’s suitable, I’ll book. Potential dates are Sat 14th March or Sat 21st March. Location is Leederville which I think is central for people living south like Safety Bay or north like Yanchep.

Will likely ask for $5 donation on entry to assist with room hire costs.

Tables and chairs available, so if you want to bring your wares, go ahead!

I'll report back Monday arvo WA time.

Cheers,
Matt Webb.

Update #3 on our 2nd meet.

I visited the Loftus Community Centre in Leederville today to check out rooms available for hire. They have a room that will hold about 30 people plus tables and chairs, but at a cost of $50 per hour. It would mean an entry donation would be asked. Plenty of parking avail at the premises. Plenty.

I’ve also been contacted by a member of the Perth Commodore group and he has access to office space in West Perth which is likely to be cheaper and hold about the same amount of people. Parking is on the street.

I have to now contact the Loftus Community Centre by email stating what our needs are, and hopefully lock it in. I’m also waiting for pics of the West Perth office space and avail dates for March I’m aiming for Sat 14 or Sat 21st March if Leederville, or Sun 15 or Sun 22 March if West Perth.

Update 5 on meet #2.

I have all but locked in the venue at Leederville, I just want to get a show of interest.

The pic attached is the room available, nice size. There’s tables and chairs in the pic but the venue was adamant they aren’t available on the day.

Next item to discuss is time - the room is booked 4:30 to 5:30pm each Saturday, so we need to book before or after this. I’d like to do after, a nice twilight meet, 5:30pm to 7:30pm?

Room hire is $52 per hour, call it $100 for 2 hours. I’d ask for a $5 entry “donation” simply to cover the cost.

Proposed dates are March 14 or March 21, and I’m leaning towards March 21.

What are your thoughts? Say it now before it’s booked!!

The updates have been a little quiet this week but the planning has been in full swing. With 3 weeks to go until Meet 2 in Leederville, this is what's progressed this week...

Food is provided at the event with thanks to RetroKit.com.au (a Perth based Amiga vendor currently supplying A1200 cases) we'll be having pizza. Check out their website and take a look at the cases available.

Drinks will be put on by Al Smith in the form of softdrink and bottles of water. There will be several eskys about the place so help yourself on the night.

Graham over at the Commodore Cave (youtube.com/channel/UC88309evEGravUS76Z8fBgQ) will be bringing some retro Commodore hardware that you've probably heard of, but have never seen before!

There's still a few more things to get sorted, but in particular, wouldn't it be cool if we had an Amiga set up, with 2 joysticks, and a projector!! 2 player gaming on a big screen! The room we have hired has white walls, so we could easily use a wall as a projector screen. If you have a projector and you're willing to bring it along for the evenings, please get in touch!!

More updates to follow! Any and all suggestions are welcome!

We're into the last 6 days until Meet 2 goes ahead in Leederville. Yep, it's still on despite the panic with Corona virus, but on the topic, if you are feeling unwell or have travelled recently, please consider others and maybe skip this meet and attend the next (yep, there will be a next!).

Onto more positive stuff... we've got about 20 confirmed attending, and a handful of "maybe", it should make for a good social event.

Entry is $10 and that includes drinks (thanks to Al Smith) and pizza thanks to Retrokit.com.au (David Fowler). Check out RetroKit's website for Amiga products. David will bring some some products down on the night to show us.

There will be a buy and sell table so bring anything you would like to move on. If you have some troublesome hardware, bring that too, but could I suggest bringing a monitor, power supply, etc, as I cant guarantee (for this first meet) that we'll have all that stuff readily available for use.

You're welcome to bring along hardware if you want to show off your wares, anyone got an 060 or Vampire Amiga?? 😀😃

If you are bringing hardware, could I please ask if you could bring a table and a chair if you wish to sit. The Rec Centre said they don't have tables/chairs available despite the pic they sent me of the room having a stack of tables and chairs. We will see on the night what the go is there.

Lastly, if you stick around until the later part of the meet, there will be a C= quiz, with prizes up for grabs (and they're not s$$$ prizes either, some very cool stuff there!!).

See you this Saturday, 21st March, in the "Playclub" room, at Loftus Rec Centre, Leederville. 5:30pm to 8:30pm

Cheers, thank you! We were undecided all due to this virus stuff, but we went ahead anyway. Had a reasonable turn out considering the circumstances but we all had a ripper time! There were tables all around the room, with various hardware, even an SX64 (portable Commodore 64). We ordered in pizza, had an esky full of soft drinks. It was just an awesome time!!

The Brisbane group has been an inspiration if I am honest, and I mentioned that on the night in a little "thank you" speech. I think what you have up there is just wonderful and I hope we can have something similar going in the West!
