Depends on what you want to do!

I think it's a worthwhile upgrade from 3.1 as it fixes a heap of longstanding bugs and improvments.

Legalities and company squabbles aside I think it's a good thing that it's in active development. Can't wait for 3.2!

Thats exactly my question, I have a stock A2000 with 2091 (ScSi2SD Installed) and a Buddha anniversary card running my CD-ROM.

For all that I can do with that configuration I can't see the point just for Bug fixes (a good deal of which are currently patched).

If my understanding is correct, much of what are "improvements" are aimed at the 68020 etc?

I totally agree thats its fantastic to see development continuing!

One of the benefits is that you're machine won't have to reboot when it first installs patches, it's all mostly included in the ROM!

True, as long as you purchased the physical kickstart rom rather than soft kicking the 3.1.4 rom...

3.1.4 is a worthwhile upgrade, especially if you are using higher capacity (>4GB) harddisks/cf/sd cards. Pay careful attention to the size of the blocks before you format though. Otherwise you might be waiting 10 minutes or more for the hard disk to validate under 3.1.4...

I covered a lot about 3.1.4 builds on my blog posts below if this is of interest:

True. For persons in Australia that own a licenced copy of Kickstart 3.1.4, I can burn a ROM set, if they're not able to do this themselves.

Note: Proof of purchase is required.

Im using 3.1.4 and using the loadmodules way of doing it, so the machine reboots once on start up.

It's stable, it's nice, I only have a 4GB CF card in the machine so Im not making use of large partitions.

Yeah, its cool. It's nice. But I haven't come across a situation where I sit back and say "thank goodness I have 3.1.4"  8) Not yet, anyway...

Thank you gents for all the feedback!

Pretty sure I won't bother in my A2000! I don't have extra memory and I don't run large partitions at all! Think I will stick with my souped up 3.1! I also have a kick switch (1.3) in it that I used to use with my old games! Does not get touched now!
